racial stereotyping

i did wrote about skill-level stereotyping in the previous entry, but its just virtual, and the entry cant do anything. the same thing happen again during today’s soccer game. i wonder why i keep playing. duh. anyway, one of my friend mention about i am being racism or racist towards international student in utp.

i had been thinking about it, and i realized there is some truth in my friend’s word. up right here in utp, we live in a community consisting of many races and national background. for me, the variety of people living in one campus is a good opportunity for everyone to interact and know each other. but there are some issues arise when too many cultures and living style collides in one small cramp campus.

why racist? my friend labelled me being racist because i judge international student. i show my hatred towards them, and i cursed them for what they are doing. sounds so evil, am i? yeah that is the real thing of being racist.

but, it was totally different in me. i didn’t hate them. i didn’t ignore them. i didn’t chanting bad words on them. then what is the racism in me actually. personally, i just hate the facts that the international students here were too rude and unrespectful. rude? it’s rude to say rude, but i need to say it. some of the student here have no manners. they rule the campus, do what ever they want, shout like they own the college and walk in the midlle of the road, blocking the cars to run by. they have no respect towards local student, and sometime they even use high voice towards elders in the campus.

i don’t care if that is their culture that they practice in their country. i can accept that is their way of life back in their country. but the problem is, they are the minority here, and as a person who came to seek knowledge in foreign land, they should follow the culture here. do not do what ever you wish, and respect the pepople here. they act like they are the one who should be respected, and try to rule nature of life here. oh man. do not expect people will bow down to you, if you show your ego and bad manners. and remember, you are just small portion of the living comunity here.

our culture if full of sincerity and respects. we always smile to each other. we use decent words and settle things in a very honest way. we avoid quarrels, and we hate conflicts.

i did not hate the person personally, but i hate their behavior. it is unacceptable. duh. not everyone of them were like that, only few, but the impression of the locals towards foreign student is badly affected. pheww
